International Women’s Day – 8th March 2018

The Town Council will be celebrating International Women’s Day on Thursday 8th March 2018. As part of the celebration we would love to hear from any local women who were involved in the Miners’ Strike – either in 1984-85 or other struggles such as the Women Against Pit Closures movement – with stories, photos etc.

Thank you to everyone involved – Mayors Charity Tea Sat 21st October

The Mayor Councillor Lynne Whitehouse would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who was involved in the Mayor’s Charity afternoon tea on Saturday 21 October; Craig Gallimore and his team for providing the excellent food, Lisa Clarkson and her bar staff for the amazing cocktails, Brooke Hawkins and Jean Harrison for the entertainment, staff and councillors that worked behind the scenes and a special thank you to Sweet Spaces for providing vintage cake stands, tea pots etc free of charge which of course made the day extra special.

We raised an astonishing £800 on the day for the Candlelighters and Bone Cancer Research Trust.

Many thanks for all who attended and gave generously.
